TRAINING
Each year, Strathearn Eventing welcomes around 1,000 riders from across Scotland, ranging from complete beginners through to experienced competitors. Coaching is available on your own horse and can be tailored to suit individuals, pairs, groups, Pony Clubs, Riding Clubs, schools and bespoke training camps.
Lessons cover a wide range of disciplines, including flatwork, show jumping, cross-country, working hunter, showing and general riding skills. Whether you’re preparing for competition, building confidence, improving technique or simply looking to enjoy your riding more, every session is tailored to meet your individual goals.
Coaching is led by Sarah Houlden BSc (Hons), a British Eventing Accredited Level 3 Coach with an exceptional competitive and coaching background. Sarah has represented Great Britain on five international three-day event teams and is one of only a small number of coaches in the UK to hold the EFI Level 2 Certificate. Drawing on decades of experience, she works with riders of all ages and abilities, helping them develop the skills, confidence and partnership needed to achieve their ambitions. Sarah is also available to travel to other venues to deliver coaching sessions for clubs, groups and training events.
At Strathearn Eventing, we believe that successful riding is built on a strong partnership between horse and rider. Our extensive facilities allow us to create coaching sessions that are tailored to your specific needs, whether that’s introducing a young horse to water, improving balance and accuracy, developing confidence over fences, refining dressage movements or preparing for the competition season.
Our purpose-built facilities include a cross-country course, all-weather arena, grass show jumping course and grass dressage arena, providing the ideal environment for year-round training. The Hideout complements these facilities with a welcoming indoor social space, kitchen, BBQ and picnic area, making it the perfect venue for theory sessions, club gatherings, training camps and overnight stays. Temporary on-site stabling and camping facilities are also available, allowing riders and horses to make the most of their visit.
Over the years, we have been proud to support countless individuals, clubs and organisations in achieving their riding goals, whether taking the first steps into eventing, developing competitive performance or simply enjoying quality coaching in a friendly and supportive environment.
